Camal & Camille

Camal Pirbhai & Camille Turner are two artists who work together as the collaborative art duo Camal & Camille. They are known for their work about the society we live in; about who is visible and who is not visible from a Canadian History perspective. Their photo-based artworks include, but are not limited to lightbox images, lenticular prints and large-scale photographs. Performance, video and film all play a part in sharing this history.

Camal & Camille began creating art together after they met at the exhibition Fashionality at the McMichael Gallery, an exhibition in which they were both included. The inspiration for much of their work is exposing hidden histories. An educational component is often included with each body of work to expand on the ideas on which it is based and to bring the history to light.
